Organizations We Belong To

The Corpus Christi Camera Club belongs to the Photographic Society of America (PSA), the Gulf States Camera Club Council (GSCCC), and the Art Center of Corpus Christi.

As members of the Photographic Society of America we have access to their vast library of informational programs. Another service that they offer to camera clubs is judges for various competitions that are held in the club. We utilize them for our End of the Year competition.

As members of the Gulf States Camera Club Council we also have access to their photographic library. The GSCCC has monthly club competitions. The winners from these contests are than eligible for the End of the Year Awards that are given at the annual GSCCC Convention. These conventions are hosted by different camera clubs that belong to the GSCCC. In 2001 the Corpus Christi Camera Club will host the GSCCC Convention.

As members of the Art Center of Corpus Christi, located at 100 Shoreline Drive, we have can have individual exhibits at the Corpus Christi Main Library and in the Hallway at the Art Center and in the Tearoom. We also have our club darkroom located at the Art Center.

History of Our Club

The Corpus Christi Camera Club was started in 1936 in a little shop in downtown Corpus Christi. The club stopped meeting in 1942 due to World War II.
The club reorganized in 1946 and has been going strong since then.

We joined the Art Center of Corpus Christi in 1986. We held our first Exhibit of Fine Art Photography in January 1988. We continue to have our exhibit, but now it is held in February.


We also exhibit at the Corpus Christi Botanical Gardens during the summer. Except for 2001, we will have our exhibit up starting in March through May.

We also exhibit at the Multiculturial Center located at Heritage Park.
